The focus will be the on the view of marriage as a lifelong commitment, a journey of love and renewal, a relationship with a spiritual foundation, and a very important and integral part of our Church, presented as a series of topics in a seminar style. The engaged couples are invited to privately share and discuss the topics throughout the day.
You may register for any date you wish online. Space on all dates is always guaranteed, and you can register even at the last minute! All the programs are held at St. Mary’s Cathedral at Gough & Geary Streets in San Francisco. The cost is $200.00 per couple and it includes lunch. Each couple will recieve a Certificate of Completion at the end of the day.
The format is a one-day, all-day program on selected Saturdays throughout the year. In order to accommodate the schedules of busy engaged couples, space on any of the dates is always available, since the large meeting rooms at the Cathedral are used. You may cancel or reschedule your registration, even 24 hours before the scheduled date. All materials needed are provided.
The Marriage for Life preparation strives to provide couples preparing for marriage an opportunity to look at their future marriage as a special kind of commitment. Couples are encouraged to look at it as not just a civil contract, but as a chance to enter into a covenant. A marriage covenant involves a pledge to seek limitless uncompromising love for each other.
We will also explore the Sacrament of Marriage as an ongoing journey, the relationship with God and the Church community, communication and family of origin issues, married intimacy, and becoming a family.
